Yet a talented group of young singers from San Diego decided to take on the enormous challenge — and the result was nothing short of remarkable.
The Rancho Bernardo High School Madrigals, an elite audition-only advanced choir, stepped onto the stage and delivered a breathtaking interpretation of the legendary song. The performance, published on May 15, 2017, has since become a memorable snapshot of just how extraordinary young musical talent can be.
Under the direction of longtime choir teacher Lisa Friedrichs, the students approached the complicated arrangement with remarkable precision. That work helped preserve the performance as a lasting digital time capsule. Viewers praised the quality of the recording, while former students and alumni returned to the comments to remember Friedrichs and the demanding standards she brought to the school’s music program.
