Public reaction has exploded after Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show received an Emmy nomination despite facing harsh reviews, missing Netflix’s Top 10 charts, and reportedly coming to an end after its second season. While Meghan celebrated the recognition by praising her team, critics quickly questioned how the series earned such an honor, reigniting fierce debate over its reception and the value of the nomination itself

MEGHAN Markle’s “flop” Netflix show has been nominated for an Emmy award – despite “exhausted” chiefs axing it over scathing reviews.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, launched the first season of her cooking and lifestyle series With Love, Meghan last March.

Meghan shared the news on Instagram as she thanked her “amazing” crew.

She wrote: “A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on Netflix.

“We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”

But critics took to social media to slam the “joke” nomination and ripped into her “flop” lifestyle show.

One wrote: “Poor Meghan Markle never disappoints.

“She’s wasted no time getting around to crowing about her Daytime Emmy nomination for her contrived, critically panned, embarrassing flop.

“You know… the obviously worthless Emmy that you can apply for yourself. The delusion runs deep with Meghan.”

Another penned: “Is this a joke? With love Meghan was cancelled & had horrible ratings.

“How much does any Emmy nomination cost, because this was clearly bought.”

The show saw Meghan make cringey jokes, share recipes with pals, learn from celebrity chefs and craft handmade gifts.

However, despite mixed reviews from critics and fans, the show was renewed for a second run last August.

The second season featured more celeb guests and revealed details about Meghan and Harry’s wedding, as well as her time as a working royal.

And despite not being renewed for a third season, the show has now been nominated for an Emmy award.

The Sussexes will find out if they are Emmy winners at a ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles in October.

The second series premiered days after Harry and Meghan announced a watered-down deal with the streaming giant.

They signed a “multi-year, first-look deal for film and television projects”, instead of a reported $100million contract five years ago.

But the second series of With Love, Meghan reportedly didn’t land in the Netflix Top 10 shows in the US the week it was launched.

And chiefs at the streaming giant reportedly lost faith in the former royals, who are said to have left them “exhausted”.

Insiders painted a dire picture of the relationship between the couple’s Archewell Productions and Netflix, according to Variety.

“The mood in the building is ‘We’re done,’” one insider reportedly said.

According to the sources, the Sussex‘s royal exit story has been repackaged and flogged too many times.

Netflix chief Ted Sarandos and chief content officer Bela Bajaria were said to have been fed up with the duo.

But a spokesperson for the American streaming firm said the allegations were “absolutely inaccurate”.

“Archewell has been a thoughtful and collaborative partner. We’ve really enjoyed working with Harry and Meghan,” Bajaria said.

In some of the show’s more bizarre scenes, Meghan eats a sea urchin’s privates and squeezes her hand up a chicken’s bum.

She goes on to joke “what a glamorous and ladylike shot – it’s what has to be done”.
