Everett Bounds Brings ’90s Country Back to ‘The Voice’ With Clint Black Classic — Riley Green Says He’s Keeping Traditional Country Alive
Everett Bounds brought a taste of ’90s country music to The Voice with a rugged performance of Clint Black’s “Killin’ Time,” reminding viewers that traditional country still has a place in today’s music scene. His unmistakable sound earned praise from the coaches, particularly his own mentor, Riley Green, who believes Bounds represents the kind of authenticity that is helping bring classic country back.

The 23-year-old California native returned to the stage during Monday night’s episode for one of the most important performances of Season 30. Having already survived the Battle rounds, Bounds was now facing Cut Week, which NBC described as the biggest elimination in the show’s history.
With his place in the competition on the line, he chose a song that perfectly reflected his musical identity.
Everett Bounds Delivers a Taste of Classic ’90s Country

Dressed in his familiar cowboy hat, Western button-down shirt, jeans and distinctive belt buckle, Bounds looked every bit the traditional country performer as he stepped onto the stage.
His choice of Clint Black’s “Killin’ Time” gave him the opportunity to showcase the gritty vocals and classic country influences that have become his signature. Rather than chasing a contemporary sound, he leaned into the unmistakable style of the 1990s, delivering a performance that brought plenty of country attitude to the competition.
The audience responded with applause, and even host Carson Daly couldn’t resist commenting on how authentic the performance sounded.
“That was country, that’s for sure,” Daly remarked.
The coaches shared his enthusiasm, although Adam Levine offered a particularly colorful description of Bounds’ vocal style.
Levine joked that whenever he hears the young singer perform, he gets the impression that a “huge fight’s going to break out.” He explained that Bounds has a rare ability to create an entire atmosphere through his voice alone, adding to the authenticity and personality of his performances.
“You’re a great entertainer. Great job,” Levine told him.
Riley Green Sees Everett Bounds as Part of Traditional Country’s Comeback

Bounds’ performance clearly struck a chord with his coach, Riley Green, who has a particular appreciation for traditional country music.
Green praised the contestant not only for his singing but also for staying true to a sound that is finding renewed appreciation among today’s listeners.
“There’s something that’s so cool to me about how traditional country’s making a comeback, and you’re right there in it, man,” Green said.
He continued by emphasizing that Bounds wasn’t simply imitating an older country style. His authenticity was something viewers could recognize for themselves.
“You’re doing it and you’re really that. That’s an authenticity that people are going to be able to see at home. Congrats. It’s a great performance,” Green added.
It was a meaningful endorsement for Bounds, whose musical identity is deeply rooted in the traditional country sound he brought to the stage.
However, receiving praise from the coaches didn’t automatically guarantee him a place in the next round.
Everett Bounds Faces Elimination After Riley Green’s Decision

Cut Week introduced a particularly difficult format for the contestants, with each coach having to make major decisions about their seven remaining team members.
Two artists from each team were selected to advance directly to the Live Shows. The other five contestants then had one final opportunity to perform for a remaining spot, with each coach making the ultimate decision.
For Team Riley Green, Cade Mower and Ferryn & Brinkley received automatic advancement. Following the performances, Green selected Joe Henley for the team’s final available spot.
That left Bounds without a guaranteed place in the Live Shows, meaning his future on The Voice was still uncertain.
The other contestants securing advancement included Mia Knight, BigCountry and Lillie Kolich from Team Queen; Lexi Stephens, Connor Closs and Dakota Cohen from Team Adam; and Koumba Diallo, Anna McElroy and Brianna Cameron from Team Kelly.
Although Bounds didn’t receive one of the guaranteed spots, his journey was not necessarily over.
Everett Bounds Hopes America Will Give Him a Top 13 Spot
Following the Cut Week performances, viewers across America were given the opportunity to vote for one additional contestant they wanted to see advance into the Live Top 13.
The results were scheduled to be revealed during a new episode of The Voice on Monday, November 9, at 9/8c on NBC and Peacock.
For Bounds, earning America’s support would mean far more than simply surviving another elimination.
The young singer admitted that he had taken considerable risks to pursue his musical ambitions, leaving behind the security of other career possibilities to follow what he believes is his true calling.
“To make it to the top 13 would be electric. It would be amazing because I got a lot on the line here,” Bounds said.
“I’ve done just about every trade there is to do out there. I’m out here chasing my dream. I’m taking risks. This is what I’m meant to do.”
With his traditional country sound and determination to pursue a career in music, Bounds is hoping viewers will give him the opportunity to continue proving himself on the The Voice stage.
