The Chase fans go wild as show welcomes ‘oldest ever’ contestant and brand him a ‘legend’
FANS of The Chase have gone crazy after the gameshow’s oldest ever contestant took to the floor.
Val was just one month shy of his 95th birthday when he filmed Wednesday’s episode and viewers immediately fell in love with him.
Speaking to The Chase’s host Bradley Walsh, the retired veterinarian said he now spends his days “watching television and watching horse racing”.
When asked what he planned to do with any winnings, Val left viewers at home in stitches with his answer.
Sitting on a stool, he quipped: “I will be 95 next month, so I expect it will be going in the bank before I can spend it all.

“Then I’ll die and the kids can have have it.”
Val, from Solihull, also made Bradley and fans chuckle when explaining the reason behind his unusual moniker.
He said: “It’s a mistake. My mother wanted a girl and when I was born, she was disappointed and told my granny, ‘You name him’.”
Val explained that his grandmother had been reading a Dutch book with a character whose name sounded like ‘Vol’.
“I don’t know how it was spelt, but they got it wrong and I was called Val.”
Fans went wild for Val, with many jumping on Twitter to share their delight at having him on their screens.
One tweeted: “You’re a legend, Val. You’re an absolute legend. May you win this one!”
Another added: “Aww what a legend Val is!”
And a third penned: “The legend that is Val keeps me here until the end today.”
Val managed to beat Chaser Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan in the first round, earning an impressive £5,000 for the prize pot.
However, he and fellow finalists – Meng and Nabeel – were sadly unable to triumph in the Final Chase and walked away empty handed.
