Harry and Meghan Urged to ‘Disappear Professionally’ After Latest Project Struggles at the Box Office
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been advised to dramatically reduce their public-facing professional activity after their latest documentary struggled to make an impact following its cinema release.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently released Cookie Queens, a documentary following four Girl Scouts as they compete to become leading cookie sellers.
Produced through the couple’s Archewell Productions, the film opened in 446 cinemas but brought in $327,797 during its first weekend — working out at approximately $735 per screen.
The limited box-office performance has now prompted fresh debate about how Harry and Meghan should approach their future projects.
Commentator urges a change of strategy
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield argued that the Sussexes would benefit from stepping away from the professional spotlight temporarily rather than continuing to make frequent announcements.
Speaking to Page Six, Schofield said she would advise the couple to “disappear professionally” for a period of time.
She suggested they significantly reduce the number of projects and announcements associated with their names before concentrating their efforts on a single venture with stronger potential.
Schofield also argued that Harry and Meghan should surround themselves with experienced professionals capable of successfully developing and executing such a project.
“I would tell them to disappear professionally for a little while, dramatically reduce the number of announcements, and identify one genuinely compelling project with experienced people around them who know how to execute it,” she said.
Questions over the Sussex brand
The comments follow Cookie Queens’ modest opening despite the documentary receiving a relatively wide theatrical release.
Rather than relying heavily on Harry and Meghan’s celebrity profiles to generate attention, Schofield’s advice suggests a different approach: allowing the strength of an individual project to take priority over the couple’s personal brand.
The latest response to Cookie Queens therefore adds to the discussion surrounding the Sussexes’ entertainment ambitions and what direction Archewell Productions could take next.
For Harry and Meghan, the message from their critic is clear: fewer announcements, less emphasis on their celebrity status and greater focus on finding one project capable of making an impact on its own merits.
