Taylor Swift Crashes Dakota Johnson’s SNL Monologue as Actress Jokes About Her Exes: ‘My Literal Therapist’

The “Patient Zero” singer made a surprise appearance as Johnson hosted the late-night comedy sketch show on Saturday, Oct. 3

Ahead of her 37th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 4, the actress returned to host Saturday Night Live for a third time with Turnstile as musical guest.

Johnson was poking fun at her love life in her opening monologue when she was surprised onstage by singer and longtime friend Taylor Swift.

“I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these men; they’re actually really supportive,” Johnson — who previously publicly dated singers Chris Martin and Role Model — said as Swift, 36, then joined her onstage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist,” Johnson continued as she pointed to Swift.

“I’m not — I’m not your therapist, actually,” Swift said to the actress. “You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some.”

“Yeah, well, I have manners,” Johnson replied.

“And then you flop on my couch and overshare, and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy,’ ” Swift continued.

“Is that not a therapist?” Johnson joked.

The Verity star then mocked her history of dating musicians, saying, “I’m doing a public service by dating them because ladies, I am saving you a lot of money on Zoloft. So you’re welcome, America! And also England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland, allegedly,” which prompted a “Woo-woo!” from Swift, in a nod to her husband Travis Kelce‘s roots.

For her surprise appearance on the show on Oct. 3, the “Blank Space” singer wore a Wells plaid off-the-shoulder mini dress by Simkhai (which retails for $595), a Cassandre Chain Saint Laurent belt ($1,500) and Burberry Pillar leather boots ($1,995).

At the end of the show, Swift presented Johnson with a turquoise-and-white frosted cake to celebrate her birthday.

“Thank you for having my birthday with me!” Johnson said as Swift returned onstage holding the cake. Johnson jumped up and down excitedly in reaction and hugged the singer.

Johnson and Swift have been friends for several years. The actress attended the pop star’s star-studded wedding to NFL star Kelce, 36, in July.

Johnson appears in Swift’s latest music video for Patient Zero, which is included in the deluxe edition of The Life of a Showgirl that premiered at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star also presented Swift with the first-ever Artist Director Honors award at the Sept. 27 ceremony.
