Harry and Meghan Move Archie and Lilibet From New UK School After Just Two Days as Security Concern Emerges

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from their new British school only two days after the children began attending, following concerns about whether the daily journey could be managed safely.

The unexpected decision came shortly after the Sussex family returned to Britain following six years in California. Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, had reportedly settled into the school and received a warm welcome, but discussions with the family’s security team exposed a practical problem that could not be ignored.

School run raised operational concerns

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that the change was prompted by the practicalities surrounding the children’s existing arrangements.

“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said.

The concern was reportedly not related to the school itself. Instead, the distance from the Sussexes’ new home and heavy traffic along the route made it difficult for their protective vehicles to travel together securely during the school run.

Although security checks had reportedly been carried out before the term began, the full difficulty of transporting the children safely only became apparent once the daily journey was attempted.

Sussexes praise the original school

Harry and Meghan made clear that the rapid withdrawal should not be interpreted as criticism of the school, its teachers or the care Archie and Lilibet received during their brief time there.

“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family,” their spokesperson said. “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

The children reportedly enjoyed the school, making the decision especially disappointing for the family. However, the Sussexes ultimately concluded that the security challenges surrounding the commute made the arrangement impossible to continue.

Archie and Lilibet prepare for another fresh start

Archie and Lilibet are now expected to attend another school in the area. Reports indicate that they have already visited the alternative school for a taster session.

Harry was reportedly seen helping Lilibet settle into reception, while both parents are said to have begun joining the new school community.

The names and locations of the schools have not been made public, nor has the precise location of the family’s British home, to protect the children’s privacy and security.

The abrupt school change highlights the complicated protection arrangements surrounding Harry and Meghan following their return to Britain.
