The final season of The Bear paid tribute to the late Rob Reiner in a moving dedication. The beloved director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick Reiner, in December 2025, before The Bear Season 5 was filmed. Reiner was a guest star in The Bear Season 4. The Emmy-winning series found a way to incorporate Reiner into the final season, the entirety of which takes place on one fateful day for the Chicago restaurant and its staff. Warning: The Bear series finale spoilers ahead!

Is Rob Reiner in The Bear Season 5?

Reiner played restaurant consultant Albert Schnurr in The Bear Season 4. His plot was all about helping Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) improve The Bear restaurant’s walk-up window, which was established to keep The Original Beef’s famous sandwich menu alive after Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) evolved the main restaurant into fine dining. Albert was helping Ebra conceptualize franchising his section of The Bear.

It’s unknown if Reiner was supposed to return in The Bear Season 5, but his death transpired before filming began. The series makes a perfectly fitting and moving reference to Reiner in an offscreen conversation between Ebra and Albert in the final episode.

Ebra talks to Albert on the phone in two moments of The Bear‘s final season. Carmy gave Ebra the go-ahead to start franchising The Bear in the series finale. After Ebra and friends pick the franchise’s new location, Ebra calls Albert with the exciting update.

The phone call ends with Ebra saying, “As you wish.” This is an iconic line spoken by Cary Elwes in Reiner’s The Princess Bride. The line was a touching nod to one of Reiner’s most iconic and influential films.
