A 3-year-old Arizona girl was located safely two days after she vanished from her home, police announced over the weekend.

Kehlani Rogers was reported missing from Avondale, Ariz. this weekend, according to an Amber Alert issued by the Avondale Police Department, which claimed she was last seen late in the evening on Friday, Feb. 20.

She was located safe on Sunday morning, Avondale police said in an update.

Authorities have taken into Marina Noriega, 23, into custody in connection with the alleged abduction.

Court records cited by 12 News are shedding more light on the circumstances surrounding the child’s alleged abduction.

The parents of the child, whose names were not disclosed by 12 News, told police they had welcomed home a “random woman” who needed a place to stay,

On Saturday morning, they woke up to find the woman and their child gone.

During the intense search that ensued, investigators received a tip that led them to identify Noriega as the suspect, Avondale police said in an update on Saturday.

A woman told police she had given a ride to Noriega and the child to City of Maricopa, when Noriega allegedly disclosed her plan to take a train to California, per the court records cited by 12 News.

Surveillance footage at a local business in the City of Maricopa allegedly confirmed to police that Noriega was there with the child.

On Sunday morning, investigators located Noriega and Kehlani at a gas station after they were sighted in Phoenix, Avondale police said in their update on Sunday.

During the investigation, Noriega allegedly told police she was Kehlani’s mother, before recanting that statement and claiming she “made a mistake,” per the court records, 12 News reported.

She allegedly “denied having any plan for the child after she took her and denied intent to sell or harm the child,” investigators said in their report.Avondale police said in their Sunday update that Noriega will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail system on charges related to the incident.

The jail confirmed on Monday that she has been booked; Avondale police was unable to share information about charges when reached by PEOPLE on Monday afternoon.
