The Prince and Princess of Wales brought all three of their children to the Commonwealth Games in Scotland
Kate Middleton and Prince William have been known to take the occasional bike ride together, but they turned down the chance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games â much to the relief of their children.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, interrupted their summer break to attend the Commonwealth Games in Glaglow, Scotland, on Saturday, Aug. 1, and brought along all three of their children: Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.
During their time at the Games â which are held every four years to bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth of Nations â the family took in the track cycling competitions and met with past U.K. champions like Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Laura Kenny.

The Telegraph reported that, during their chat, Kenny invited William and Kate to âcome and give it a goâ on a tandem bike, leading Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones to pose the question to their kids: âWould you like to see mum and dad on a tandem in the velodrome later?â
Prince George gave a decisive answer: âNo.â
âWe embarrass you enough as it is,â Prince William chimed in.

The family also spent time with the Team Wales athletes at Wales House, where they were each gifted a plushie of Gwen, the Welsh dragon, and their own Welsh cycling outfits.
âYou know me, Lycra!â William joked. The laughter grew when he pulled out the top, and it was several sizes too small, revealing that heâd accidentally been given one of the childrenâs uniforms.
âI wonât whip the shorts out,â the prince promised.
The Commonwealth Games outing marked several firsts for the royal family. It was the kidsâ first official time being seen publicly in Scotland, where William and Kate also hold the title of Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. It was also Louisâ time attending a sporting event with his older siblings.
While meeting with the athletes, the children shared some of their own favorite sports at the moment. Prince George and Prince Louis spoke about their recent sports day at school, with George favoring the javelin and Louis enjoying the high jump.
Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte, who âloves gymnastics and ballet,â according to her father, was gifted a signed Team Wales leotard.
While the Prince and Princess of Walesâ kids may not be eager to see them on a bike together, the royal heir did already hop on the back of a tandem earlier this year.
In March, he joined U.K. radio host Greg James for a leg of his weeklong 1,000-kilometer ride for Comic Relief, a charity that hosts the annual Red Nose Day and raises funds to address homelessness, poverty and mental health around the world.

The pair rode the tandem through a scenic leg through South Yorkshire that marked the halfway point of Jamesâ ride, which began in Weymouth, in the south of England, and ended in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Friday, March 20.
When they passed a group of children, the radio host pointed out that the Prince of Wales was cycling behind him, shouting, âItâs Prince William!â
The royal yelled back, âItâs a lookalike!â
Joking that onlookers wouldnât believe their eyes, William teased James, saying, âThey think youâve lost it,â before telling the crowd, âHeâs hallucinating!â
