‘Britain’s Got Talent’: ‘Wiggle Wine’ Singer Donchez Dacres Delivers One of the Series’ Most Feel-Good Moments

Britain’s Got Talent found one of its most uplifting moments of the series when 60-year-old Donchez Dacres took the stage with his original song, “Wiggle Wine,” and left the judges dancing along.

Dacres, an AA man who was born in Nottingham and grew up in Jamaica, brought a burst of infectious energy to his audition. By the time his performance was underway, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were all on their feet.

But the fun did not stop there.

Donchez Gets the Judges Dancing

Dacres performed his original track “Wiggle Wine”, quickly winning over the panel with his upbeat performance and dance moves.

The atmosphere became even more lively when Ant and Dec came out from backstage and joined him for a “wiggle” and a “wine”.

The judges soon joined in themselves, running over to dance alongside the performers. Dacres eventually finished the performance off stage, right beside the judging panel.

It was the kind of spontaneous, feel-good audition that left the entire room smiling.

David Walliams Hits the Golden Buzzer

By the end of the performance, David Walliams had made up his mind.

He pressed the Golden Buzzer, showering Dacres in golden confetti and sending him straight through to the live semi-finals.

Explaining his decision, Walliams said: “You know what? I’ve wiggled my body. I’ve wound my body. But I’ve never done the two at once. You are like a ray of golden sunshine, thank you.”

The other judges were equally enthusiastic about the performance.

Simon Cowell told Dacres: “People like you are the reason we make this show. You made it fun, I really like you.”

Alesha Dixon praised him for bringing the “island vibes” to Britain’s Got Talent, while Amanda Holden focused on his dancing, simply telling him: “Your hips, man.”

Another Unconventional Golden Buzzer Choice

Dacres became the third Golden Buzzer act of the 2018 series.

Walliams has previously used his Golden Buzzer on unconventional acts, including singer and crumble enthusiast Lorraine Bowen, husband-and-wife performers Anne and Ian Marshall, and Cristian Spridon, whose audition featured “Sex Bomb”.

This time, Dacres’ combination of an original song, infectious personality and energetic dancing proved impossible for Walliams to resist.

Simon Cowell had already given his Golden Buzzer to father-and-son duo Jack and Tim, while presenters Ant and Dec had awarded theirs to magician Marc Spelmann.

With his Golden Buzzer secured, Dacres was guaranteed a place in the live semi-finals and had turned a simple audition into one of the series’ most memorable feel-good performances.

Britain’s Got Talent continued on Saturday, May 12, on ITV.
