A new meeting between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and King Charles is reportedly being planned before Christmas, raising fresh questions about whether the long-running rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family could be entering a different phase.
According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, time has already been reserved in the King’s diary for Harry and Meghan to meet with Charles and Queen Camilla. The exact date and location have not been disclosed, and the claim comes from royal sources rather than an official announcement from Buckingham Palace.
One source described the reported arrangement as significant, arguing that a meeting with the monarch would not be an informal drop-in.
“This is not a casual ‘let’s get together sometime,’” the source told Shuter. “Nobody drops in on the King. If Harry and Meghan are in Charles’s diary, it is because he wants them there. This is deliberate.”
A second source similarly suggested that Charles was prepared to make space for his youngest son again, saying that “Charles is making room for his son again.”

Harry and Meghan have already reunited with Charles
The reported plans come only months after an important private family reunion at Highgrove.
On July 10, 2026, Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, met King Charles and Queen Camilla at the King’s Gloucestershire residence. Buckingham Palace confirmed the gathering, which marked the first time Charles had seen Archie and Lilibet in person since 2022.
The meeting was deliberately kept private, with reports saying that Charles was determined to prevent details from leaking before Harry and his family had left Highgrove.

For Harry, the reunion represented a rare face-to-face meeting with his father after years of strained relations.
The Sussexes subsequently moved back to the UK in August with Archie and Lilibet after spending years living in California. Harry has since made several public appearances in Britain, including events connected to the Invictus Games and other charitable causes.
The next meeting remains unconfirmed

Despite the reports of another gathering, there has been no public confirmation from Buckingham Palace or the Sussexes that a specific meeting has been scheduled.
That distinction is important because the reported plans are based on information from unnamed sources. The July Highgrove reunion, by contrast, was confirmed by the palace.
The timing would nevertheless be notable if the reported meeting goes ahead. It would suggest that the private contact between Harry and his father has continued following their July reunion.
Harry has previously spoken about wanting to rebuild relationships within his family, while reports have indicated that he and Charles have maintained some communication.
William remains a very different story
While Charles appears, according to the latest reports, to be maintaining a relationship with Harry, the situation involving Prince William remains considerably more difficult.
Shuter’s sources claim Harry has attempted to reopen communication with his older brother but has not received a response.
“There is no meaningful communication with William or Catherine,” one insider claimed. “Charles is willing to move forward. William is not.”
Those remarks should be viewed as an attributed claim rather than a confirmed statement of William’s personal position.
Other recent reporting has likewise described the relationship between the brothers as unresolved. PEOPLE reported that Harry remains estranged from William even as some communication with Charles has resumed.
Charles and William share one important position
The apparent difference between Charles’s personal relationship with Harry and William’s relationship with his brother does not mean the King has reversed the Sussexes’ formal status within the monarchy.
In September, Buckingham Palace reiterated that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and will not undertake official royal duties. Their charitable activities are carried out privately rather than as representatives of the Royal Family.
That position has also been described as something Charles and William agree on.
Recent reporting said the King and Prince of Wales remain aligned in not wanting Harry and Meghan to return as working members of the Royal Family, even if Charles is willing to maintain a personal relationship with his son.
So, even if another private family meeting takes place, it would not necessarily signal a return to royal duties for the Sussexes.
A possible step forward between father and son
For now, the reported pre-Christmas meeting remains just that—a report from royal sources.
But the prospect of Charles seeing Harry and Meghan again comes at a time when the Sussexes are once again living in Britain and spending more time around Harry’s home country.
The July Highgrove reunion demonstrated that Charles was willing to meet privately with Harry, Meghan and their children after years of separation. A second meeting, if it takes place, could provide another opportunity for the father and son to maintain that connection.
The bigger question is whether that progress can extend to the wider family.
For the moment, reports suggest that Charles and Harry may be moving toward a more regular personal relationship, while the rift between Harry and William remains unresolved.
