Meghan and Harry Plan Apology as They Hope to End Feud With William and Kate

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly planning to apologise to the Royal Family over comments made during their explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, as part of what insiders describe as a longer-term effort to rebuild family relationships.

The couple are said to be making plans for a future life in the UK, and an eventual reconciliation with Prince William and Kate is reportedly central to those hopes.

During the 2021 interview, Meghan claimed that a member of the Royal Family had raised “concerns and conversations” about how dark her and Harry’s son Archie’s skin might be before his birth. Meghan and Harry declined to identify the person involved, prompting widespread controversy and leading William to publicly deny that he or other senior royals had made such remarks.

According to a source cited by Express.co.uk, Meghan and Harry now recognise that the interview caused lasting hurt within the family and believe an apology could eventually help repair the relationship.

Couple reportedly want to make amends

The source claimed that the couple had understood, since deciding to return to the UK, that they would have to “eat humble pie”.

Their biggest regret over their departure from royal life and subsequent move to the United States was reportedly the Oprah interview, with Meghan said to view her comments about Archie’s skin colour as her biggest mistake.

The source said Harry had been angry with his family at the time and supported Meghan, but that both now recognise they went too far.

“They both know they’re hot-headed and realise they took things too far,” the insider claimed.

The couple are reportedly hoping that a private conversation with William and Kate could eventually take place, allowing them to address the comments directly and begin repairing the damaged relationship.

Hopes for a family reconciliation

According to the source, Meghan and Harry want to concentrate on the future rather than continue revisiting the disagreements of recent years.

“They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologise,” the insider said.

The couple are also said to be optimistic about their return to Britain and hope their children, Archie and Lilibet, will eventually develop a relationship with their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The prospect of a wider family reconciliation remains uncertain, however.

Harry and William are believed not to have spoken since 2022, despite appearing at several significant family events.

The brothers were both present at King Charles’s coronation in 2023 and at the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in 2024. They were nevertheless reported not to have acknowledged one another on those occasions.

Harry has maintained contact with King Charles

Harry and Meghan have already taken steps towards reconnecting with King Charles.

Earlier this year, Harry visited his father at Highgrove, where the King met Archie and Lilibet.

That meeting represented a significant moment for the family, although the relationship between Harry and his brother remains considerably more strained.

The reported plans for a reconciliation with William and Kate therefore appear to be a much longer-term ambition rather than an immediate development.

How William and Kate Want Harry and Meghan to Fix Royal Rift

Meghan and Harry reportedly want a quieter life in Britain

As they settle into life in the Cotswolds, Meghan and Harry are also said to be deliberately keeping cameras away.

The insider claimed that Meghan in particular is making an effort to keep a low profile and become more integrated into the local community.

Their reported priority is to avoid unnecessary attention while they establish themselves in the UK.

The source said they have no intention of filming their movements in Britain and do not want cameras to interfere with any opportunity to improve relations with the Royal Family.

A representative for Meghan and Harry declined to comment on private family matters.

For now, any apology or reconciliation with William and Kate remains a reported future plan rather than a confirmed meeting. But according to the source, the couple believe acknowledging past mistakes could be an important step towards the fresh start they hope to build in Britain.
