A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a “loving partner and son” after 28-year-old Reece Salmon was stabbed to death on a residential street in London.
Reece was attacked on Lloyd Baker Street in Clerkenwell shortly before 11.20pm on Wednesday. He was found suffering from stab wounds and rushed to hospital, but tragically died the following day.
His devastated family said they were struggling to put their grief into words as they remembered a much-loved son and partner.
“We are utterly devastated by this loss,” they said.
“Reece was a loving partner and son, and he leaves behind many friends and loved ones.
“It is impossible to put our loss into words.”
Murder investigation launched
The Metropolitan Police has launched a murder investigation into Reece’s death, but no arrests have been made.
The attack happened on Lloyd Baker Street, a residential road known for its expensive properties, with homes selling for as much as £2.25million over the past year.
Forensic officers were pictured examining the area after police cordoned off the street as investigators searched for evidence.
A Section 60 order has also been authorised across Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton.
The measure gives officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles. It is in place from 4pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads local policing, said officers would remain in the area as the investigation continues.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life,” he said.
“You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe.”
Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed something or holds information that could help establish what happened.
“The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation,” Chief Superintendent Stewart said.
“If you can help, please come forward.”
