MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) – A former Marshall ISD educational aide accused of hanging a student upside down by their feet and swinging them around, causing the child to hit their head is back in jail.
Rachel Ann Kirspel, 37, of Marshall, was first arrested on Monday, May 18, and then released on May 20 on a $50,000 bond.
However, on Friday, May 22, she was booked back into the Harrison County Jail on a bond revocation. Her bond is now set at $100,000, and she remains in the Harrison County Jail on Friday evening.
The reason for the bond revocation has not been made public.
The initial arrest was made when, according to the affidavit, a Marshall Early Childhood Center employee witnessed an incident while putting papers into students’ backpacks outside of a room Kirspel was in. The employee said she heard Kirspel say “you are ugly as Hell” and “you can tell your mama didn’t raise you right.”
The employee then heard children screaming and looked into the room, where she saw Kirspel holding the student upside down by their feet and swinging them side to side and up and down, according to the affidavit.
The witness yelled at Kirspel and asked what she was doing. Kirspel then flipped the child back upright and asked if they were okay, the affidavit states. The witness told Kirspel to put the child down and leave the room. Kirspel then tried to pick the child up again and play with them, according to the affidavit.
The witness said the child was screaming and crying, according to the affidavit.
