LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) have now taken a man into custody in connection to a fleeing incident that endangered the lives of multiple children, including a baby.
According to reports, at about 3:15 p.m. on May 24, 2026, an ASP trooper was attempting to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. However, the driver did not stop, and thus, a high-speed chase began.
Unbeknownst to the trooper, there were children inside the vehicle.
During the chase, the vehicle reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour as it went outside the Camden city limits and continued heading south on Ouachita County Road 47.
Reports say that while driving, the suspect passed several vehicles and even swerved into oncoming traffic.
The trooper attempted to perform two PIT maneuvers, but they were unsuccessful. However, after a lengthy pursuit, the suspect then lost control of the vehicle, left the road, traveled through a yard, hit a light pole, and then overturned.
Just after the accident, the trooper immediately rushed to help a four-month-old baby who had not been secured in a car seat and had been thrown from the vehicle.
Troopers then quickly got three other young children, all under the age of six years old, safely out of the vehicle, which was dangerously close to live power lines.
The four children were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries, and the mother of the children was informed of the incident.
During a search of the vehicle, troopers found a defaced firearm and illegal marijuana.
Meanwhile, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Tyrice Fletcher, was taken into custody and taken to the Ouachita County Detention Center.
Fletcher, who was already a convicted felon was then charged with felony fleeing, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of firearm by certain persons, four counts of endangering the welfare of minor, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of no child passenger restraint, reckless driving, no driver’s license, no seatbelt and improper passing on the left.
