One of the biggest celebrations of A Capitol Fourth: 250th Weekend Celebration came when legendary funk and R&B icons Kool & The Gang took the stage, bringing decades of timeless hits to one of America’s most important Independence Day events. Performing before millions of television viewers, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group transformed the patriotic special into a joyful singalong as audiences danced and clapped along to some of the band’s most recognizable classics.

The group treated fans to an energetic medley featuring signature songs that have defined generations of celebrations, including “Celebration,” “Ladies’ Night,” and “Get Down On It.” Backed by a live band and vibrant production, the performance injected fresh energy into the evening while reminding viewers why Kool & The Gang remain one of the most successful and influential groups in pop, funk and R&B history.

Their appearance formed part of PBS’s annual A Capitol Fourth broadcast honoring America’s 250th anniversary. Hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, the special featured performances from Alan Jackson, Carly Pearce, The Beach Boys, The Temptations, Patti LaBelle, Trace Adkins and other acclaimed artists, alongside military tributes and a spectacular fireworks display over Washington, D.C.
