The Night Manager returned with a second season 8 years after it first aired, and Tom Hiddleston has now hinted at its future.

Tom Hiddleston has teased an update on the third season of The Night Manager.

Eight years after the explosive BBC drama first aired, The Night Manager returned with a second series in January, and a third instalment is now on the way.

Based on the works of John Le Carre, The Night Manager stars Loki actor Tom as MI6 officer Jonathan Pine, as he races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilise the country.

The BBC goes on to tease: “With betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late.”

After discovery his nemesis Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) was still alive, Pine suffered a devastating defeat at the end of season two, and Tom has now teased what’s to come.

His character was left bleeding, while Roper’s son (played by Diego Calva) and Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) were killed.

“I can tell you it’s coming along,” he hinted to RadioTimes.com. “It’s one of the most profound and significant pieces of work in my acting life.

“I’m so grateful to The Ink Factory for including me in the journey of generating the material now as we imagine how to develop the story further.”

He admitted Pine was one of his favourite characters to have played, adding that discussions about season three “are very alive right now”.

He went on to say they’re “very connected to the conversation about our lives right now and the direction of travel in the UK.

“As we know from the ending of season 2, Johnathan Pine finds himself in a tight spot… wait and see, it’s exciting stuff.”

Despite the near-decade-long wait for The Night Manager’s return, viewers were left gripped by season two when it aired earlier this year.

One fan’s review read: “Very matured and the new season did not disappoint.”

Another added: “I personally loved it. It is different because it is set 10 years later but definitely worth it.”

Someone else said: “I loved Season 1 and if anything I loved Season 2 even more. The darker tone and incredible acting from Tom Hiddleston and the new and returning cast made Season 2 well worth the long wait.

“This story yielded a heartbreaking and shocking turn of events and I can’t wait for Season 3.”
