The horrifying story of a woman who secretly laced her husband’s spaghetti with poison without his knowledge is set to broadcast on TV tonight (July 7).
The Poisoning: How to Kill Your Husband, which originally aired last year, will be shown on Channel 5 at 10pm, as it examines the case of Heather Mook who covertly poisoned her spouse.
In 2008, the 58-year-old was found guilty of two counts of poisoning so as to endanger life.
Victim John Mook survived to recount why his wife carried out the shocking crime, but also insisted that prison might not have been the appropriate place for his spouse.

The then 60-year-old maintained that his partner required help and treatment. On the courthouse steps, he declared: “I think she needs some serious help and I hope she gets it.”
In a bid to swindle his mother out of £43,000, Heather Mook placed rat poison into the pasta meal, alongside an anti-depressant medication which she then served to him.
Her plan was to leave her husband sufficiently bewildered for her to proceed with the crime against his mother. The jury required just two and a half hours to convict her of the offences, and it emerged after the trial concluded that this wasn’t Mook’s first poisoning incident.
She actually possessed a prior conviction from 1982 for poisoning her seven year old daughter, Teresa. In a similar fashion, though not as severe as her assault on John, she had crushed an anti-depressant tablet into her child’s meal.
Adrian Waterman QC, prosecuting, contended that she possessed numerous pills because they were prescribed to her personally.

He stated: “The stealing of the money and the giving of the drugs were linked. She gave him amitriptyline to avoid discovery of her thefts.”
Throughout the proceedings, she was branded a ‘menace to friends and strangers alike’, after it was observed that she had repeatedly deceived those around her.
She once ordered six BMWs using a bank cheque she had mana The judge ultimately labelled her a ‘dangerous woman’, and handed down an indeterminate sentence.
This meant that there was no fixed date for her release from prison in order to safeguard the public, but she would be eligible for parole after serving five years behind bars.
