King Charles and Queen Camilla were spotted smiling and laughing together yesterday as they attended the Braemar Royal Highland Gathering at The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park. The annual event seems to be one of the King and Queen’s favourite outings in Scotland, featuring traditional events such as Highland dancing, pipe band competitions and band parades.
The King, wearing a tartan skirt, seemed to be in good spirits at the games, laughing with Queen Camilla and others sat around them. They were the only members of the Royal Family in attendance. Here The Daily Express has shared some of the best photographs of the day…
King Charles and Queen Camilla dressed for the occasion

King Charles and Queen Camilla dressed for the occasion on Saturday, both wearing tartan like they do every year at the annual event. As reported by the BBC, the King wore a kilt made from the King Charles III tartan, based on the Balmoral tartan sett – or pattern – which dates back to about 1850. Queen Camilla then wore tartan kilt alongside an emerald green jacket and feathered hat.

The King is a massive fan of the games

King Charles is a massive fan of the event and can often be seen laughing away in the stands. His Majesty tends to attend the games every year wearing a kilt. Even before he was monarch, Charles would attend the games with his royal relatives.
