Al Roker’s Today Show weather segment thrown into chaos as Savannah Guthrie runs past set
Fans of the Today Show were filled with joy at seeing Savannah Guthrie having fun on the set of the morning program, as she intercepted colleague Al Roker’s presenting segment
Fans were so tickled by a live on-set prank that saw Savannah Guthrie plunge Al Roker’s presenting segment into chaos.
The 54-year-old played a prank on Al on the TODAY Show on Monday, June 1. While Al was doing the weather, Savannah and Tina Fey ran through his segment. The 71-year-old meteorologist was talking and said that this is what’s “happening in the country,” before he was swiftly interrupted by Savannah and the 56-year-old actress. Savannah went, “Sorry! Just coming through,” as she dashed across, hand in hand with Tina.
Al seemed confused and flabbergasted as he followed their movements. As a graphic of the United States was put on the screen, a person could be heard saying, “30.” Then Al finished what he was going to say after saying here’s what’s happening and it was “in your neck of the woods.” Fans were happy to see Savannah having fun. It comes as her mother Nancy’s disappearance hits the four-month mark. There has been no major update in the case, and theories and speculation continue to run rampant.
Today posted the clip on their Instagram, and fans took to the comments to express their joy at seeing Savannah’s playfulness.
A fan wrote, “So good to see Savannah having some fun!!” A second fan said, “Savannah is so funny! This is the best place with her!”
Another said, “As a mom and a grandmother, Savannah, I know this would have brought happiness and peace to your mom. She would need that and so do you.”
A fourth said, “What a hoot! @savannahguthrie Hysterical! I LOVE it!!!” A fifth said, ” Hahaha!!! Classic, looooove to seee the laughs and love for Savannah and her news family they sooo need this!!”
Savannah’s mother, Nancy, has been missing since February 1. The 84-year-old was last seen on January 31 when she stopped by for dinner at her daughter Annie’s home.
Authorities have claimed that Nancy was taken against her will. There have been no suspect or suspects identified in her alleged abduction.
While there has been no major breakthrough in the case so far, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told PEOPLE in May that they are “getting closer” to solving the investigation.
The sheriff has been embroiled in controversy, with people criticizing the way he has handled the case, including FBI Director Kash Patel, who said he should have been brought in sooner.
Savannah took a leave of absence from the Today Show following her mother’s disappearance. She came back to the NBC morning program on April 6.
