An 88-year-old woman has been identified after she was found dead at her home in Oxfordshire, prompting a murder investigation and the arrest of a 36-year-old man.
Jill Grant was discovered at an address on Appleford Drive in Abingdon at around 2.20pm on Thursday, September 10.
Thames Valley Police confirmed her identity as detectives from the force’s Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Her family has released a photograph of Jill as a tribute to the elderly woman, while specially trained officers continue to support her relatives.
36-Year-Old Man Remains in Custody
Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Abingdon on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody as detectives work to establish what happened to Jill.
Forensic officers were pictured examining the property as part of the investigation, while police officers remained at the scene.
Thames Valley Police said: “Her family have released the image below.”
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, the senior investigating officer from the Major Crime Unit, said officers’ thoughts were with Jill’s loved ones.
“Our thoughts remain with Jill’s family,” he said.
“We would ask, on their behalf, that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”
He added that specially trained officers were continuing to provide support to the family.
“The 36-year-old man, from Abingdon, we arrested on suspicion of murder remains in our custody at this time,” Brangwin said.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the events that led to Jill’s death.
