Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has found herself at the centre of a fresh security concern after her personal mobile number appeared in a parents’ WhatsApp group connected to her children’s school.
The Duchess joined the Year 3 group shortly before Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet began attending school in the UK. A welcome message from another parent identified Meghan as a new member of the group, before Meghan replied warmly to the other mothers.
“Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome,” Meghan wrote, adding a heart emoji and signing off with “xx.”
A screenshot of the exchange was subsequently shared multiple times, exposing the phone number associated with Meghan’s account.
The incident comes at a particularly sensitive time for the Sussex family, following the decision to move Archie and Lilibet to another school after just two days because of concerns about the practicalities and security of transporting them there.
Children Moved School After Security Concerns
Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, had only recently started at their new UK school when the family decided they would attend another institution.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said the decision followed discussions with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their existing arrangements.
The spokesperson also stressed that the move was not a reflection on the school or its staff, thanking teachers and other employees for the care they had shown the children.
Reports said the journey between the Sussexes’ home and the school had become problematic during busy periods, with heavy traffic and a narrow section of road affected by parked cars.
According to the original report, the security convoy could take up to an hour to complete a journey that was expected to take around 35 minutes.
The children are now expected to attend another school in the area where the family is based.

The WhatsApp exchange began innocently enough, with one parent welcoming Meghan to the group and mentioning that Archie would be joining the school the following day.
Another parent responded with a simple welcome.
Meghan then introduced herself to the group and thanked the other mothers for their warm reception.
The problem came when a screenshot of the conversation began circulating beyond the original group.
The disclosure has added another layer to ongoing questions surrounding the Sussexes’ security arrangements as they establish a new life in Britain after several years in the United States.
Harry and Meghan Face New Security Review
The timing is significant because Harry and Meghan are also facing fresh government assessments of their security arrangements.
The Royal and VIP Executive Committee, known as Ravec, is reconsidering the couple’s security following their return to Britain as full-time residents with their children.
It is the first new security assessment for Meghan since the couple stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. Harry’s security review had already been commissioned earlier this year and remains part of the wider process.
Ravec has reportedly requested information about the couple’s schedules and daily routines as part of the assessment, with the school run among the practical considerations being examined.
The government does not normally disclose detailed information about individual security arrangements, saying that doing so could compromise their effectiveness.

Security has been a major issue for Harry since he and Meghan left their roles as working royals and moved to North America in 2020.
The couple have since funded private security, while Harry has challenged the decision to remove his automatic police protection in the UK.
