Prince Harry is set to make his first official public appearances in the UK since returning to the country with Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, earlier this month.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, will attend two major charity events: the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards and the annual WellChild Awards in London, HELLO! can confirm.

The WellChild Awards will take place on September 21, 2026, with HELLO! serving as a media partner for the event.

Harry will attend the first-ever Invictus Spirit Awards, an event created to recognize individuals, organizations and communities that represent the resilience, service and determination at the heart of the international Invictus Movement.

He is also expected to take part in the launch of INSPIRE, the Invictus education programme.

The Duke will then turn his attention to WellChild, a charity he has supported as patron for 18 years.

“It is always a privilege to be part of the WellChild Awards and to meet the extraordinary children, young people, families and professionals whose courage and determination inspire us all,” Harry said in a statement.

He added that this year’s ceremony is especially meaningful as the charity marks the 20th anniversary of its WellChild Nurse programme, which has supported thousands of children and families and helped many children live more of their lives at home.

“These Awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that impact, but above all to celebrate the incredible people at the heart of it,” he said.

Harry and Meghan’s low-key return to the UK

The Sussexes arrived at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday, August 26, accompanied by seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, after flying privately from California.

The family is understood to be staying at a non-royal residence outside London, although their exact location has not been confirmed. Reports have suggested they may have moved to the Cotswolds.

Since returning, Harry and Meghan have largely stayed out of the public eye.

Meghan was reportedly seen at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds, while Harry was photographed at Tower Bridge Studios in London.

Harry’s long connection with WellChild

Harry became WellChild’s patron 18 years ago and has continued supporting the charity despite relocating to the US in 2020.

He has also returned to the UK for the charity’s annual awards each year.

During a July visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Harry met families benefiting from WellChild’s specialist support programmes and reflected on the impact of the organization.

“Over the past 18 years as Patron of WellChild, I have had the privilege of seeing first-hand the extraordinary impact these nurses have had on thousands of children and families across the UK,” he said at the time.

He explained that specialist nursing support can give families greater confidence in caring for their children at home while helping children live their lives surrounded by the people who love them.

Speaking to HELLO! at last year’s awards, Harry also opened up about how becoming a parent had changed the way he viewed the experiences of families supported by the charity.

“I think once you become a parent yourself, everything changes,” he said.

“It’s emotional enough not being a parent and seeing what these families go through, but then when you have your own kids or when you’re expecting your own kids, that’s when it really hits you.”

A busy period ahead for the Duke

Harry’s latest UK visit follows his return in July for engagements marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham.

During that visit, Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla. A source later told The Times that Harry was left feeling “buoyed, very happy, and really energised” after the meeting.

Meghan did not take part in any public engagements during that trip.

Her final working appearance in the UK as a member of the royal family came on March 9, 2020, when she and Harry attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey alongside senior royals, including the late Queen.

Harry, meanwhile, is expected to continue with a series of charity commitments and preparations for the Invictus Games in Birmingham next year.

He is also scheduled to take part in a skydive for Sunnybrook later this month, although an exact date and location have not been announced.

The Duke has additionally been announced as a participant in the upcoming Clinton Global Initiative, which could see him travel to New York from September 22 to 23.
