LEGENDARY actress and rapper has joined The Voice as the fourth coach for Season 30.
Grammy Award winner Queen Latifah is bringing her expertise to the competition show for the upcoming season.
NBC announced on Tuesday that the iconic musician had been added to the panel, alongside two returning coaches and a newcomer.
Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine will return to their red chairs for the milestone season.
Country singer Riley Green is also making his debut on the show as a first-time coach.
This will also be the first time that Queen Latifah serves as a coach on The Voice.
The rap star previously appeared as a guest judge on other competition series, like America’s Got Talent.
Season 30 premieres this fall and will also feature special appearances from past coaches and mentors.
Riley’s addition is a drastic shakeup to the panel, which previously had Reba McEntire, Kelsea Ballerini, and Blake Shelton as the show’s country music experts.
Kelly seemed very pleased with the selection as she gushed about the ACM Award winner in an Instagram video.
“I was stoked when I heard you were gonna be a coach because actually I’m a superfan of your music, you’re so good.
“You probably know because I’ve covered your songs, anyway big fan but needless to say, fan and all it’s a competition…team Kelly’s going to whoop that a**,” she joked in the clip.
Kelly will be tough competition as she currently holds the record for the most wins by a female coach.
She is also devoting more focus to The Voice, as she officially leaves her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, around the same time.
Meanwhile, Adam has nabbed four wins in his 18 seasons on the show, including the recently concluded Season 29, which he coached with Kelly and John Legend.
While many fans are excited to see Riley and Queen Latifah on the upcoming season, this wasn’t the cast that the network initially hoped for.
A production source exclusively told The U.S. Sun that NBC ideally wanted Blake and Gwen to return as coaches.
Blake left The Voice in May 2023 after 12 years and 23 seasons as a coach on the show.
He met his wife, Gwen, while they both were coaches on Season 7, which taped in April 2014.
Gwen went on to coach seven more seasons and won the show once.
